The Original 'Wine Day' Marketing Promotion … Le Beaujolais Nouveau!

Today, thanks to social media, there are tons of wine days and wine chats. But there’s one ‘wine day’ that has been happening for 60 years…the unveiling of the first wine of the harvest season in France, Beaujolais Nouveau.

As they say in France, Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! (The new Beaujolais has arrived!) And in 1985, France passed a law requiring that Beaujolais Nouveau must always be released on the third Thursday in November anywhere in the world. To celebrate the day, Beaujolais Nouveau countdown parties became popular throughout France and abroad. Now, Beaujolais Nouveau Day is a global celebration.

Here in the U.S., the release of the Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveaus has put the celebration on the map. That thanks to the partnership between winemaker/winery owner Georges Duboeuf and it’s importer, Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, chairman William Deutsch. This year they are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Georges Duboeuf in the U.S.
